Flagship project-Awareness Programme for participants belonging to SC/ST


Department of Empowerment of persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, New Delhi on behalf of the Government of India’s FLAGSHIP PROJECT (FLAGSHIP PROJECT for SC/ST) raising awareness, providing training, education and scholarship, social and economic development and employment through social and cultural events, social security and livelihoods. It is a flagship programme of prime minister of India to support people belonging to SC/ST. Through this project a one-day awareness programme for women, persons with disabilities, nurses, teachers, village administrators, school and college students in rural and urban areas participants belonging to SC/ST at the district level through the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities, in collaboration with a voluntary organization in each district. One of its trainings was conducted by “Vikash” Organization at Bonda Hills, Malkangiri on 28.06.2022. There are fifty participants belonging to ST/ SC both male and female, attended. Mr S. Gurumoorthy has explain about the schemes and courses available at NIEPMD Chennai for people belonging to SC/ST. The resource person Smt. Sasmita Swain has spoke about the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Shri. Padma Charan Das, DSSO, Malkangiri has spoke about the various racial violence against persons belonging to SC/ST, provisions of Law, opportunities, avenues on prevention of atrocity and who took the lead and encouraged education to be the only weapon to achieve untouchability, girls’ education and economic development. Mr. Ashutosh Hota, Deputy Director, Vikash, welcomed all. The Project coordinator Mr S. Gurumoorthy from the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities welcomed and spoke about NIEPMD benefits for persons belonging to SC/ST.
