In Tatamanaguda village of Malkangiri district, the introduction of solar bore-well irrigation systems has ushered in a new era of agricultural advancement. These systems, driven by the objectives of the Odisha Tribal Empowerment & Livelihoods Programme Plus (OTELP Plus), aim to address water scarcity issues and optimize agricultural productivity among tribal households.
With the support of Vikash FNGO staff and ITDA OTELP Plus, the Tatamanguda Village Development Association (VDA) successfully implemented a Solar Lift irrigation structure, benefiting 18 ST households in the village. This initiative enhances crop yield, reduces water consumption, and empowers farmers to cultivate throughout the year, leading to increased incomes and economic stability.
The success of solar lift irrigation underscores the importance of sustainable and cost-effective agricultural practices, urging both farmers and governments to prioritize investments in solar irrigation technologies. Vikash's assistance in such initiatives highlights its commitment to empowering rural communities and fostering agricultural innovation for inclusive growth and development.
