Watermelon production is an intensive farming process. Farmers from various categories have been incorporating this crop into their cropping systems, leading to increased output and productivity in watermelon farming.
In Sundargarh, specifically in the Gurundia block, Vikash, along with 15-17 farmers, cultivates watermelons on approximately 3 acres of land. They grow the Agastya variety of watermelon, sold for 15-20 INR per kilogram.
Additionally, in Keonjhar, farmers in five villages within the Joda block have adopted mango plantations. More than 5 hectares of land are now covered with mango plantations.
